The Elite Cup is promoted by the Elite Netzwerk Bayern. The Elite Netzwerk Bayern is an initiative of the Bavarian government and supports excellent talents studying or working at Bavarian universities. To its network belong initiatives such as the prestigious Max Weber scholarship, the elite master program Finance and Information Management (FIM) and the add-on study program of Center of Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) that has the reputation to transform students into entrepreneurs. In order to promote the exchange between these students the network organizes a soccer match the Elite Cup. Each year teams of the different programs compete against each other.
Dr. Oliver Trinchera, co-founder of KINEXON, is a CDTM alumnus who participated several times in the Elite Cup during his time at CDTM. He enjoyed the entrepreneurial mindset of the CDTM which definitely helped him to start KINEXON few years later together with Dr. Alexander Hüttenbrink. As alumnus Oliver was immediately convinced when asked to support the Elite Cup with KINEXON’s groundbreaking tracking technology. First of all, KINEXON is dedicated to support aspiring entrepreneurs in developing their ideas and pursuing their entrepreneurial path.
Moreover, the support of the Elite Cup was part of a bigger initiative to open the world of sports analytics for aspiring students. Another cornerstone of the initiative was a joint course with the CDTM about sports analytics. The goal was to enable the students to gain insights into the fascinating and fast growing sports analytics market. CDTM was the ideal partner since an integral part of its curriculum is to look into the latest digital trends. As part of the course the students were invited to KINEXON’s office in the heart of Munich. The students were introduced to big data in sports with a special focus on the market, technologies and last but not least KINEXON’s innovative player tracking system. During beer and pizza the students had the opportunity to discuss their views on the status quo and the future of the sports analytics market. As practical part of the course KINEXON installed its system at the Elite Cup and tracked the players’ positions and movements. The CDTM students had the opportunity to work with their own data and generate analytics and new forms of visualization and fan entertainment. This will not only help students to be accustomed with working with large volume of data but also deepen their understanding why it is important to have a technology which is able to generate reliable and accurate data.
KINEXON enjoyed working with a new generation of sports technology enthusiasts and wishes the next generation of entrepreneurs all the best for the future!
