Mos­kau, 15. Juli 2018: 37. Spiel­mi­nu­te im Fina­le der FIFA Fuss­ball-Welt­meis­ter­schaft Frank­reich gegen Kroa­ti­en. Elf­me­ter für Frank­reich nach der Ver­wen­dung des VAR (Video Assistant Refe­ree) beim Stand von 1:1. Kurz vor der Aus­füh­rung des Elfe­me­ters durch den Kapi­tän des fran­zö­si­schen Teams, Antoine Griez­mann, zeigt die TV-Übetra­gung eine Gra­fik mit den Plat­zie­run­gen der bis­he­ri­gen Elf­me­ter von Griez­mann. Dem Zuschau­er wur­de somit erkennt­lich, dass er zwar kei­ne Lieb­lings­ecke bevor­zugt, sei­ne Schüs­se jedoch nach links und rechts gleich­mä­ßig ver­teilt.

Die­ses Bei­spiel zeigt eine durch­aus erfolg­rei­che Inte­gra­ti­on von getrack­ten Spiel­da­ten in Fern­seh­über­tra­gun­gen. Es erlaubt Zuschau­ern und Kom­men­ta­to­ren Spe­ku­la­tio­nen anzu­stel­len und über die Aus­füh­rung des Elf­me­ters zu dis­ku­tie­ren. Lei­der ist die­ses Bei­spiel immer noch eine Aus­nah­me: Bei der FIFA Fuss­ball-Welt­meis­ter­schaft 2018 in Russ­land gab es außer den übli­chen Spiel­sta­tis­ti­ken (Anzahl und Genau­ig­keit der Schüs­se, Anzahl und Genau­ig­keit der Päs­se) kein erwäh­nens­wer­tes Sto­rytel­ling im TV.

Was bringt es, eine Gra­fik der Lauf­stre­cke dar­zu­stel­len? Ist eine Lauf­stre­cke von 12 km für einen zen­tra­len Mit­tel­feld­spie­ler wie Paul Pog­ba viel oder wenig? Lief Bas­ti­an Schwein­stei­ger beim WM-Fina­le 2014 gegen Argen­ti­ni­en mehr? Läuft Paul Pog­ba immer 12 km oder läuft er mehr im Sys­tem der fran­zö­si­schen Natio­nal­mann­schaft als in sei­nem Ver­ein Man­ches­ter United? Der feh­len­de Kon­text bei der Ver­wen­dung von Leis­tungs­da­ten und die dar­aus resul­tie­ren­den ent­täusch­ten Erwar­tun­gen sind sicher­lich ein Grund, war­um die Nut­zung von Leis­tungs­da­ten bei TV-Gra­fi­ken zurück­ge­gan­gen ist und mit einer gewis­sen Skep­sis betrach­tet wird.
