Der erste große Fortschritt betrifft den Videobeweis. Das International Football Association Board (IFAB) hat den Einsatz des Videoassistenten (VAR) genehmigt. Dies stellt eine neue Ära für den Fußball dar und trägt dazu bei, die Integrität und Fairness in kritischen Situationen zu erhöhen. Laut IFAB ist die Philosophie der VARs “minimale Einmischung — maximaler Nutzen” und zielt darauf ab, Ungerechtigkeiten zu reduzieren, welche durch “klare und offensichtliche Fehler” oder “ernsthafte versäumte Vorfälle” in Bezug auf Tore, Elfmeter, direkte rote Karten oder falsche Identitäten verursacht werden.
Der zweite große Schritt ist die Genehmigung der Verwendung von elektronischen Geräten und Kommunikationsmitteln im technischen Bereich für taktische Zwecke und die Sicherheit der Spieler. Diese Entscheidung wird besonders begrüßt, wie Christofer Clemens, Leiter des DFB-Scouting und der Spielanalyse/Senior Nationalmannschaft beim DFB, in einem kürzlich erfolgten Interview bestätigt.
Christofer Clemens sieht in der Verwendung von Echtzeitdaten im technischen Bereich einen deutlichen Vorteil, da sie es ermöglichen, die Entscheidungsprozesse wesentlich objektiver zu beurteilen. Dabei verweist er auch auf die Bedeutung im Zusammenhang mit den wachsenden Belastungen für die Spieler im internationalen Fußball heute.
Laut Clemens wird “die Zukunft der Datenanalyse in der Verwendung von Echtzeit-Positionsdaten und im modellierten maschinellen Lernen während der Spiele liegen. Die zusätzliche Berücksichtigung des Balles liefert Informationen für alle relevanten Konstellationen im Rahmen der Spielregeln. Die richtigen Daten, sofern sie mit der richtigen Technologie verwendet und richtig interpretiert werden, können einen großen Einfluss ausüben und letztendlich dazu beitragen, die Qualität des Spiels zu erhöhen.“
