The Leaders Summit in London is a series of events that bring together leaders and experts from the global sports industry to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in sports business and performance.

The summit consists of different sessions, such as the Sport Business Summit, the Sport Performance Summit, the Diversity Forum, and the Leaders Sports Awards. It aims to provide a platform for networking, learning, and innovation among the sports community.

What Role Did KINEXON Play at the Summit?

What Was Said at the Summit?

One of the topics discussed at the Art of Coaching and Developing” session was how analysis can help to solve the problems that arise in sports. One of the panelists stated: Using analysis can help to break down the problems made, but it must be kept simple to help with player buy in”. Analytics are crucial for developing talents to the next level, but they also need to be smart and not overwhelming.

As one of the performance analysts pointed out: Just the right amount of analysis will gain trust”. This was also a common theme at the Kinexon stand, where the attendees were impressed by the Kinexon technology that can track players with high accuracy.

An English scout said: Turning these insights into smart KPIs will be an incredible value add”. He also added: The market was waiting for a technology to track player that accurate. GPS has its limitations – now, there are more analyses possible.”

How the Leaders Summit in London Addressed Injury Prevention in Sports

The health of athletes was one of the main topics of discussion among the 593 delegates from 37 countries who attended the deep dives into the art of sports analytics. This is a crucial issue, as injuries cost the top 10 leagues around 10bn USD every year. Therefore, injury prevention is essential for developing the next generation of stars.

One way to prevent injuries is to track the position of players and monitor their stress load, which can cause fatigue and increase the risk of injury. A sports scientist who saw Kinexon’s fatigue indices said: This is going to be one of the most important research areas of the future.”

Which Themes in Sports Analytics Were Discussed?

The secrets of success, psychology in decisive situations, player empowerment, and high performance psychology programs in sport were some of the themes explored by the US sport leaders, including:

  • Terry Francona (Cleveland Guardians)
  • RC Buford (San Antonio Spurs)
  • Howie Roseman (Philadelphia Eagles)

German experts, Michael Reschke (FC Bayern) and Per Mertesacker (Arsenal), also shared the stage.

They all agreed that debriefing and reviewing throughout the year is a key factor for improvement and success, as it helps to know when mistakes were made and not to make them again”. Technology can assist in identifying and avoiding these mistakes. The future of sports may involve two new players: Big Data and Smart Analytics.

We have worked hard to enable coaches to get insights that have never been possible.”

Alexander Hüttenbrink

Where The Discussions on Sports Analytics May Lead

Having discussions, like the ones at the Leaders Summit, opens up new possibilities for tactical and technical development, which is what sets Kinexon apart from other technologies, according to its founder Alexander Hüttenbrink: We have worked hard to get to that point, enabling coaches to get insights that have never been possible.”
