“Meet the Future of Sports” — so lautete die Überschrift der SportsInnovation 2018, welche den Geist der Veranstaltung perfekt zusammenfasste. Die von der DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga und der Messe Düsseldorf gemeinsam organisierte Veranstaltung fand am 8. und 9. Mai 2018 in der ESPRIT arena in Düsseldorf statt.
DFL-Geschäftsführer Christian Seifert erklärte in seiner Eröffnungsrede: ““SportsInnovation [.…] setzt ein Signal nach draußen: Der Sport im Allgemeinen — als einer der attraktivsten Medieninhalte der Welt — war und ist ein Impulsgeber für den technologischen Fortschritt”.
Der Sportjournalist und Autor Raphael Honigstein moderierte die Veranstaltung. Im Kern bildeten drei sogenannte Innovation Matches die Grundlage für die Präsentation verschiedener fortschrittlicher Technologien aus den Bereichen Spielanalyse, Übertragungslösungen und Stadionerlebnis. Bei den ersten dieser Spiele, bei denen die U‑17-Teams von Fortuna Düsseldorf und Bayer 04 Leverkusen aufeinander trafen, präsentierten wir eine Weltpremiere: das Live-Tracking von Spielern und Ball und damit eine neue Dimension der qualitativen Spielanalyse — vollautomatisch, vernetzt und in Echtzeit.
Fast 500 Gäste aus 20 Ländern hatten die Möglichkeit, unser System aus erster Hand zu erleben, als wir während des Spiels in den Live-Modus unserer Anwendung wechselten — inklusive der Anzeige einer automatisierten Ereigniserfassungen von Parametern wie Pässen, Schüssen und dem Gegenpressing sowie genauen Messwerten zu Ballgeschwindigkeit und ‑besitz. Unser Mitbegründer und Geschäftsführer Dr. Maximilian Schmidt betonte in seinem Vortrag auch, dass eine nahtlose Videosynchronisation und die Integration von Scoutingdaten einfache Analysen für Trainer, Coaches und Analysten ermöglichen.

Weitere Highlights der Veranstaltung war die in die Produktionsabläufe implementierte Künstliche Intelligenz (KI), ein neues Schiedsrichterfunksystem, neue Kamerasysteme, das Thema IP-Übertragung und wie diese die globalen Verteilungs- und Streamingdienste prägt sowie virtuelle Grafiklösungen und vieles mehr.
