Our Mission

We empower the sports world to reach the next level through real-time data, insights, and actions.

KINEXON Sports tracks movement and position data of players and official match balls, transforms it into valuable analyses and insights, and assists professional teams and leagues in using data for pioneering innovative strategies.

Our Vision

Best performance in sports driven by technology.

In professional sports, a few percentage points can make all the difference. That’s why data plays a fundamental role in getting and remaining among the best of the best.

Our Story

2010 at Allianz Arena in Munich: Alexander Hüttenbrink and Oliver Trinchera witnessed the manual recording of player data. Convinced that this inefficient and error-prone process could be automated, they gave rise to KINEXON

In 2014, Maximilian Schmidt joined founders Alexander and Oliver to launch KINEXON Sports. KINEXON Industries emerged as a second brand in 2015.

Selected Milestones

Ensuring Safe Sports Continuity with SafeZone

2020 – 2021

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, KINEXON demonstrated its agility and innovation by developing SafeZone, a real-time contact tracing solution tailored for sports environments. The technology was rapidly adopted by major U.S. sports organizations. Notably, the NBA used SafeZone to monitor player proximity during its 2020 season restart in Orlando, while the NFL made SafeZone mandatory for all teams and the league office in the 202021 season, ensuring health compliance throughout training and competition. Simultaneously, NCAA conferences such as the SEC, ACC, and Pac-12 implemented SafeZone to support the safe return of college sports, enabling athletes to compete safely amid strict health protocols.

Setting New Standards in Global Football

2022

In 2022, adidas introduced Connected Ball Technology, featuring KINEXON’s advanced motion sensor — debuting at the FIFA World Cup™ and used across multiple major tournaments since.

The integrated 500Hz sensor enabled millisecond-precise ball touch detection, supporting semi-automated offside decisions and delivering real-time shot insights. Developed in close collaboration with adidas, this innovation has set a new standard for decision-making speed, accuracy, and fan engagement at the highest level of football.

Powering Women’s Sports & Expanding Tech Horizons

2023

In collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), KINEXON launched a Women’s Sports Initiative, developing tracking technologies & data analysis tools specifically tailored for female athletes — including the integration of menstrual cycle data into performance load management. Read the full story here

We also introduced our new GPS-based tracking solution in partnership with Fitogether, broadening our portfolio to serve teams of all levels.

During the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ in Australia and New Zealand, KINEXON’s advanced motion sensor technology once again featured at the highest level, delivering precise player and ball tracking data throughout the tournament.

Growth, Innovation & European Spotlight

2024

KINEXON technology is at the heart of UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany, where sensors embedded in adidas match balls deliver real-time data on ball movement and in-game events, enhancing referee accuracy and fan engagement.

The launch of our Computer Vision (CV) solution marks a major step forward, offering advanced player and ball tracking using camera-based systems for broader accessibility. For the first time, CV enables coaches to monitor performance / load metrics as well as shots to gain more insights on shooting performance under different conditions.

Our global client base surpassed 500 professional teams, reflecting the trust placed in KINEXON by the world’s top leagues, federations, and performance staff.

Strategic Alliances & Trailblazing Women’s League

In 2025, KINEXON entered a landmark partnership with the Joe Gibbs Human Performance Institute, advancing athlete performance through elite data and insights.

KINEXON is also a proud technology partner of Unrivaled, the new U.S. women’s 3v3 basketball league founded by WNBA stars, providing live player tracking to elevate the sport’s visibility, fairness, and competitiveness.
