FIBA-Certified: KINEXON Sports Recognized as a Global Leader in Basketball Performance Technology
Basketball is evolving – faster, more intense, and more demanding than ever. At KINEXON Sports, we believe that the future of the sport depends on accurate, real-time data that coaches and performance staffs can rely on to make confident decisions and ensure fairness at every level.
KINEXON Sports has been recognized as the first technology provider officially validated by FIBA for its wearable and in-venue tracking systems. The milestone, achieved through the federation’s inaugural independent testing program, confirms that KINEXON’s IMU and LPS solutions meet — and in several areas exceed — FIBA’s benchmarks for data accuracy, reliability, and player safety. The validation positions KINEXON as a trusted leader in advancing performance technology for basketball.
Basketball is faster, more physical, and more data-driven than ever. As demands on players and staff intensify, reliable tracking tools have become essential for monitoring workloads, optimizing training, and supporting recovery.
At the elite level, decisions often rest on fine margins — making accuracy and transparency in performance data non-negotiable.
To meet these evolving demands, FIBA launched its first independent validation program to assess wearable and in-venue tracking technologies used across the sport. Through accredited testing laboratories, the federation evaluated each provider on data accuracy, reliability and player safety. KINEXON Sports was the first company to successfully complete this process — establishing a new benchmark for trusted, high-quality performance tracking in basketball.
A Proven Model, Now in Basketball
FIBA’s program builds on FIFA’s EPTS Quality Programme, which KINEXON has supported since its start. Both establish objective, sport-specific benchmarks — ensuring performance tracking meets verified standards in a rapidly growing market.
The Validation Process Explained
The program involves independent laboratories testing providers on FIBA’s behalf, focusing on two core areas:
- Athlete Safety: Wearable sensors are assessed against rigorous ergonomic and impact standards to minimize risks.
- Data Performance: Tracking accuracy is measured against a gold standard — the Vicon motion-capture system, widely used in biomechanics for its millimeter-level precision.
KINEXON's Participation and Outcomes
KINEXON submitted its IMU-based wearable system and LPS in-venue tracking solution for review. The results showed both met — and in some cases surpassed — FIBA’s criteria for accuracy and consistency:
- Positioning data stayed within defined thresholds.
- Speed and acceleration metrics aligned closely with reference standards.
- Load and jump measurements were confirmed as reliable for performance monitoring and player welfare.
This makes KINEXON one of the few providers certified across both tracking types, delivering a unified, high-precision data platform for teams and leagues.
A Step Forward for the Sport
FIBA’s program raises the bar by grounding technology in independent testing. For KINEXON, it’s a natural extension of our work across sports — driving precision, fairness, and confidence in every metric.
In high-stakes performance, one thing matters most: data that stands up to scrutiny.
