SAP Sports Summit highlights the value of product integration

At the SAP Sports Summit, sports teams from all over the world gathered to discuss the use of new technology in top-level sports.

MunichOct 11, 2018

SAP hosted an amazing event on sports performance analysis, inviting more than 50 professional sports teams from all over the world to the Commerzbank-Arena – home of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Fadi Naoum (Head of Development Sports & Entertainment, SAP) welcomed more than 200 practitioners like sports scientists, athletic coaches, analysts, scouts and technical directors.

In dedicated break-out sessions, customers shared their experiences working with SAP Sports One and other technical solutions in practice and match preparation (e.g. Eintracht Frankfurt, FC Hansa Rostock, Grasshopper-Club Zurich, Hertha BSC, HSV). SAP also gave updates on their current sports platform and different modules.

We presented different applications of our real-time performance data analysis in a short live demonstration to the audience. For this purpose, Eintracht Frankfurt provided their U13 squad to conduct a 20 minute practice, using the installed KINEXON system for a demonstration of real-time player and ball tracking. In collaboration with SAP, we also used the opportunity to present the automated interface between SAP Sports One and KINEXON ONE.

Fredi Bobic (Member of the Board Eintracht Frankfurt AG) gave an inspiring keynote on Frankfurt’s journey with the application of innovation and technology. Hereby, he emphasized anecdotes on how technology helped them to be successful over the past years (most famously, the success against FC Bayern München in the DFB Pokal final in May 2018).

Key findings of the summit: Professional football teams in Europe desperately seek for integrated solutions within their technological ecosystem in match analysis, performance management and sports science. The seamless migration of KINEXON ONE data into the SAP Sports One platform via an automated API enables synchronized data with nearly zero effort. Hence, teams can focus more on performance data analysis, rather than data processing.

The SAP Sports Summit also presented the occasion to announce our new innovation partnership with Eintracht Frankfurt and SAP. You can find the separate press release here:
